Anonymous asked: Why do black people hang Christmas Tree air fresheners from there rear view mirror and love Kool-Aid?
Because air fresheners smell good and Kool-Aid is delicious?
I enjoy both those things and I am white. Looks like stereotypes are bullshit. Who knew?
galacticutie asked: What is your favorite movie?
Erm… I love Angels in America more than all other things, but it’s a miniseries so I guess it doesn’t count.
Maybe Apocalypse Now? Or The Fifth Element.
Ten bucks says cruelyouth deleted her Tumblr to make it look like Tumblr staff are huge racists. Or something.
I’m guessing because of how quickly the url was reoccupied. (Banned users’ deleted blogs remain occupied, it’s not possible to re-register them.)
STEP 36: WHEN A POC OR ALLY COMES A-KNOCKIN’ TO TELL YOU THAT YOU’RE RACIST…
Fellow White People,
Tumblr is literally* a minefield. Anything you say can and probably will be taken as racist, cissexist, misogynist, or perhaps some other kind of offensive that I haven’t thought of. It’s basically unavoidable that one of us will not at some point accidentally say something that rubs someone the wrong way and thus sends a veritable horde of incensed POC, trans* people, queer people, women, or perhaps some other kind of person I havent thought of to our askbox to tell us what a dick we are.
Do we have a right to argue with them? YES!
(Even though, in all honesty, they’re probably right.)
Do we have a right to use their attack on our idiocy as an excuse to harass them until they leave tumblr? Well, I mean, obviously we can get away with it, as evidenced by this:
Bullying and harassment are issues that Tumblr takes very seriously. We also highly value freedom of expression and freedom of speech, which we try to protect as much as possible.
Sometimes another blogger creates content that may be mean-spirited or upsetting, but not rise to the level of threats, bullying, or harassment. In such cases, in order to maintain freedom of expression, we cannot remove that material.
You can and should stop viewing content from an offending blogger. You can also Block a blogger at http://tumblr.com/block. This prevents that blogger from sending you messages via Tumblr. If you Block someone, stop viewing his or her blog, and don’t otherwise initiate contact, that individual will have no way of communicating with you on Tumblr.
(That’s tumblr speak for no, we’re not going to delete those blogs just because they were specifically created to harass other members of the tumblr community.)
But just because we can get away with it, fellow white people, doesn’t mean that we should. There is a difference between defending ourselves (even when we’re wrong) and attacking others. One makes us a douche, the other makes us a bully. And I think we’ve all watched enough movies to know what happens to bullies. Save yourselves. Just be douches.
Love, A Concerned White Person
*I do not know what “literally” means.
whydidntyoulisten asked: So you've demonstrated your astounding racism through this blog. Are you also a sexist? Oops, I mean feminist?
Wait, are you saying that sexism and feminism are the same thing? Because if so, I can see how you’d think I’m racist.
picklepoppits asked: a jolly good blog! I have just read all your posts and found them informative and witty. thanks for saving me :) !!
You’re very welcome, fellow white person. I have been lax about posting of late, but rest assured that I’ll be saving you some more quite soon.
Things I learned from Tumblr:
When you fuck up while replying to a PoC’s post, do not admit you were wrong. Instead, keep arguing your (totally incorrect) point and pretend that you are the “logical” one. When a white person calls you out for being wrong, that is when you should admit you were wrong. Finish things off by apologizing to the white person and not the PoC whose post you shit all over.
Thanks tumblr. You prove to be an invaluable resource once again.
